This is Nick’s 10th year as a member of EBSC and he is excited for his second stint as club Co-Coordinator.
While water polo was Nick’s first aquatic love, the lack of opportunities to play the sport in small towns and while traveling for work led him to explore masters swimming later in life. Masters swimming has been incredible for Nick, providing a warm welcoming community in which to stay in shape, learn, and have fun. Moving to Vancouver and joining EBSC pushed Nick’s involvement in Masters swimming to new heights: Swimming in his first-ever swim meets, hitting new PRs, and meeting amazing new friends who are now integral parts of his life. Through EBSC he even found the WhiskeyJacks waterpolo club, English Bay’s sister water polo team and he is now back playing polo. In 2019 Nick dove into open water swim racing and travelled around the world swimming in races affiliated with the Global Swim Series (GSS). He swam in races in France, Italy, Ireland, Morocco, Barbados, USA, Mexico, and Canada. It was a fantastic year of swimming and he managed to get second place in the 2019-2020 GSS championship. If you are interested in unique open water race opportunities ask him at practice! |

Jason is an active member in the local swimming community, both indoors and in the open water, where he serves as the Vice President of VOWSA, the Vancouver Open Water Swimming Association, and a coach for Train Smart. He also works part time for Triathlon BC, organizing events and hosting open water swim clinics.
Growing up in South Africa, swimming played a big role in his childhood. Swimming for the school was common, racing against other schools each week. Moving to Canada, he continued training, more as a summer swimmer. Taking a break from the pool in high school, he fell in love with the water again in university, joining his first Masters team. He joined English Bay Swim Club seven years ago, four of which were spent on the Executive Board as the Secretary and Social Coordinator. As the Co-Coordinator, Jason hopes to help the team navigate the upcoming challenges resulting from the Vancouver Aquatic Centre closing down for renovations. His goal is to make everyone, both seasoned veterans and newbies to the team feel welcomed, and keep them coming back so they too can share the joy that his fellow teammates bring him. |

Brent joined the English Bay Swim Club in early 2022 after spending several seasons with teams in South Surrey and is entering his 3rd year on the executive.
Brent started swimming at a young age and then retired for 30 years before getting back in the pool in 2013. He enjoys the camaraderie, spirit and social awareness of the team and is hoping to compete at more swim meets in the future. While not swimming, Brent operates his own accounting and tax consulting practice in Vancouver. Brent and his wife live in the West End and regularly travel abroad. |

Kirsten has been swimming competitively since they were 4 years old, with their specialty being the butterfly events. Throughout high school, their passion for swimming grew, culminating in competing at the 2016 Olympic Trials, where they were recruited to the UBC Thunderbirds women's swim team - the most decorated varsity team in Canadian sports history. They swam for UBC from 2016-2021, where they were part of the legendary squad that went undefeated at both the Canada West Conference Championships and Canadian National University Championships for four years straight.
After finishing their undergraduate degree in Accounting and retiring from competitive swimming, they took a short break from the pool before coming to the realization that they missed racing and being a part of a team, and joining English Bay. They love the inclusive, supportive environment at EBSC, and look forward to supporting this incredible community in their role on the Treasury Committee. When Kirsten's not in the pool, you can find them surfing, skiing, reading, or taking care of their many houseplants! |

Tony Correia was pressured into joining ESBC in 2021 by a friend because he kept complaining about the bucket hats clogging the slow lane at Second Beach Pool when he was doing laps.
As well as an excellent form of exercise and socializing, Tony loves the diversity and comradery of ESBC and believes the club reflects the people and communities who make Vancouver a great place to live. Since joining ESBC Tony has participated in his first swim meet, (something he thought he would never do) and feels comfortable swimming in the medium lane at Second Beach Pool. He still prefers to swim in the slow lane to relax and unwind. |

Bastian first joined English Bay Swim Club in 2017 and returned in 2023 after a few years away. He swam semi-competitively in Germany from ages 6 to 18 and also coached youth swimming. Since moving to Vancouver in 2010, he’s embraced the city’s vibrant community.
Now in his second year on the Executive Board, Bastian serves as Registrar, bringing his professional skills to support the club. Outside the pool, he enjoys home design, cooking, crafts, and connecting with friends. |

Justin started swimming when he was 15 years old and has continued up with the sport through swimming and coaching with various age-group, varsity, and masters clubs throughout Ontario. After moving to Vancouver, he joined up with English Bay in late 2023 and has been striving to improve his times and compete whenever he can! Predominantly a freestyler (200/100 FR), he will occasionally dabble in sprint BR or IM.
This is Justin’s first year on the executive board, and he’s excited and proud to serve the team. If you’re interested in racing at swim meets in BC or beyond, he’d love to hear from you! Outside of the pool, he enjoys taking his dog Mochi to the beach for long walks and spoiling her with ice cream. He’s also a big fan of eating (a lot) and playing video games with friends. |

Mya grew up swimming, learning from her grandpa—an avid swimmer and founder of the Vernon Kokanee Swim Club (and an Okanagan Sports Hall of Fame inductee!). She swam competitively through school, took a break during university, and later joined Okanagan Masters Swim Club in Kelowna where she was also on the Board as the Communications Director. She’s been with EBSC since 2021.
When she’s not in the pool, you’ll find her biking, snowboarding, cooking, camping, dancing, exploring the outdoors, or likely chasing some kind of water adventure—classic mermaid energy. |

lanna (on the right in the photo) is in her third season with the EBSC. She swam competitively during her elementary and high school years on Vancouver Island, before taking a break for university in Montreal (where it was way too cold to handle the wet hair post-practice!)
Ianna joined the team a few years after moving to Vancouver and she is grateful for the friends she's made on the team and the supportive nature of the club. Outside of the pool, lanna enjoys road cycling, running, reading, and the occasional triathlon. |

Keegan is in her fourth season at EBSC.
She started swimming competitively at 7 for the Port Angeles Penguins, continued on Bellingham Bay Swim Team, and took a 6 year break after swimming for Knox College where she also played water polo. Outside of swimming Keegan enjoys playing tennis in Stanley Park, running with Slow Girls Run Club, and spending time with her partner and dogs. |
